In this talk, I introduce dissipative solutions as a generalized solution
concept to systems of nonlinear PDEs. This solution concept is compared to
widely accepted weak and measure-valued solutions and advantages and
disadvantages are discussed.
Especially, a recent result on a fully discrete, structure inheriting,
finite element approximation for nematic electrolytes is highlighted, as
well as the convergence of solutions to this scheme towards dissipative
solutions of the full PDE model. |
