Interpolation Operators for Parabolic Problems

A talk in the BI.discrete Workshop series by
Johannes Storn from Bielefeld

Abstract: Space-time finite element methods often lead to quasi-optimal numerical schemes. This allows us to conclude rates of convergence by using suitable interpolation error estimates. However, available interpolation operators require higher regularity of the solution or are restricted to specific triangulations. This talk summarizes ongoing research with Lars Diening (Bielefeld) on interpolation operators suited for parabolic problems. We discuss interpolation on structured and unstructured meshes. The discussion includes a closer look on the need of parabolic mesh scaling.

Attendance is only possible after registration with the organizers and with 3G-certificate.

Within the CRC this talk is associated to the project(s): A7, B7
