In this talk I will present the abcd model of Bona, Chen and Saut, and discuss its physical meaning as a generalized Boussinesq model describing long frequency - small amplitude shallow water waves. We will talk about its solitary waves, and its time permits, the local and global behavior of abcd waves as well.
