How likely is it that my subgroup will return?
A talk in the Mathematisches Kolloquium series by

Given a group $G$, we can put a nice topology in its set of subgroups $Sub(G)$. Conjugation by a group element ist then a homeomorphism of this space. In the last 15 years, studying probability measures on $Sub(G)$ that are preserved by this action, so-called invariant random subgroups, has been a common theme in measured group theory. This measure-theoretic theme has topological counterparts, notably uniformly recurrent subgroups and boomerang subgroups, and the tension between them is a source of interesting research that I want to present.
I will try my best to make the talk accessible to anybody with only basic knowledge about groups, topology and measure theory.
