Long time simulation effects for linear numerical schemes with several degrees of freedom for the transport equation

A talk in the Oberseminar Numerik series by
Mikhail Surnachev

Abstract: In this talk I will discuss long time time simulation phenomena and superconvergence for linear numerical schemes with several degrees of freedom for the transport equation. It is well known that in many cases the order of accuracy can be higher than the formal order of approximation, and the long time order of accuracy can be higher than the formal order of accuracy. There are various approaches to these phenomena, of interest is their connection. The most conclusive results are for 1D. This is a joint work with Pavel Bakhvalov (Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics RAS).
