Shock fluctuations in asymmetric exclusion: The KPZ regime
A talk in the Keine Reihe series by

| Abstract: |
The asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) is an interacting particle system which belongs to the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) universality class of random growth models.
Models in this class are believed to share a common large time behavior characterized by probability distributions from random matrix theory.
Here we consider ASEP with a discontinuity (shock) in the macroscopic density, and show that at the shock a product of two Tracy-Widom distributions from the Gaussian unitary ensemble arises. |
